According to the People’s Committee of Thua Thien-Hue Province, to October 2007, 22 art troupes from 16 countries registered to attend the Hue Festival 2008. The expected programs performed at Hue Festival 2008 include music – dancing – singing, modern circus, public performance and arrangement with different unique cultures from many continents in the world.
France will perform the program of Poitou-Charentes area with the participation of the drama group Archipel Indigo. There are also the traditional music troupe Rajasthan from India, the art group Royal Apsara from Cambodia and the traditional dancing troupeRyukyuan – Okinawa from Japan.
Hue Festival 2008 will be held from 03/06 to 11/06/2008 in the former imperial city of Hue under the theme “Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development” to showcase the cultural values of Hue and Vietnam through hundreds of festivity programmes.
Hue festival 2008 will also hold an “enthronement” ceremony for King Quang Trung to mark the 220th anniversary of the event.
Visitors will have a chance to discover the diversified art-life of the Old Capital Hue, take part in wonderful ecotourism tours, visit famous pagodas in Hue and old tombs of old kings and enjoy delicious Hue dishes.
